For Create WV blog readers and newsletter subscribers, we are pleased to give you a preview of the keynote speakers lined up to speak at the Create WV Conference Nov 12-14 at the Stonewall Resort (http://www.createwvconference.com).
We have selected speakers based on their ability to relate to West Virginia and our unique opportunities and obstacles, as well as their ability to stretch our thinking with insights from outside our state. Our keynote speakers include:
- Dr. Mary Ellen Mazey, Dean, Eberly College of Arts & Sciences, West Virginia University - Dr. Mazey is a native West Virginian from Greenbrier County and a real asset to our state. She recently moved back to her home state after spending several years at Wright State University and a stint in the US Department of Housing and Urban Development. She specializes in economic development and strategic planning, and played a significant leadership role in the revitalization of Dayton, OH.
- Jack Schultz, Founder, The Boomtown Institute - Jack is a premier authority in economic development recognized for his ongoing research and vast knowledge of rural America. The Boomtown Institute's mission is to "provoke innovative thinking, encourage leadership and foster investment in communities across the USA." He says "Vision is the difference between a ghost town and a boomtown." Jack inspires communities to construct their own vision deliberately and not wait for the inevitable to happen.
- Anthony Salcito, General Manager, Education Solutions Group, Microsoft Corporation - Anthony is a visionary within Microsoft and a key thought leader behind the "School of the Future," an innovative new high school designed with the Philadelphia School District as neighborhood high school focused on developing 21st century skills.
Additional keynote speakers and hands-on track facilitators will be announced shortly.
